We need more poker threads! I'll throw in my worst bad beat while we're
all crying.
Atlantic City...I hop on a table where everyone is local/knows each other lots of loud banter. I try to stay small, unassuming. Guy on my right has a nice stack, and, I gather, must have won a big hand recently yapping about his "favorite hand". Guy on my left may have been his victim - had that tilt/steam appearance.
I'm quickly dealt KK and feel like a lion dropped into a beef corral, but stay totally cool. Small raise from guy on my right with a "now THIS is my favorite hand comment", which I assume is BS, but with kings, I'm not going anywhere and smooth call. Steamy calls of course, and we are 3 handed.
Flop come K/7/ can't remember. It's checked to steamy, who goes all in with his 2 pair, which erupts the table. Guy on my right immediately goes all-in, to almost deafening hoopla. I say all-in with my trip kings that no one, including the dealer can hear. The dealer looks at me, puzzled, and I nod my head as I say "all-in" again. That actually brought the table to hush, as they all finally noticed that I was there, and I HAD to have a hand.
Steamy flips his K-7 to the "oohs and ahs"top 2 pair is looking good. Stack guy flips his pocket aces, and everyone is thinking he is a world of hurt. Then new guy flips trip kings, putting steamy out of the hand, and stacks left with a 2 outer.
Perfectly played by me, in every detail. Until stacks hits the ace on the river.
Misery...and I'm not over it 7 some years later. ha.
